About

Site Aim

Based in the UK, Cycle Routes UK is aimed at all kinds of riders; from beginners to the enthusiast. The idea of the site is for anyone to come on and share their favourite (or not so favourite) cycle routes with us. Small guides can be written to help people navigate the route and you can also add photos.

About the web site

Set up in 2009 as a pet project, the web site is family run. We try and keep everything friendly and inviting whilst trying to give as much information and help as possible. You can meet everyone involved in running the web site by looking at their small profiles below.

Chris Griffiths

Chris

Cycle Routes UK is Chris’ project. He is often found on the road on his bike. Always willing to try new routes and experiences. Chris has always been interested in all kinds of sport and took up cycling some seventeen years ago after hanging up his running shoes on completion of one his life long ambitions, The London Marathon. Having said that don’t get the wrong impression, he doesn’t cycle in a competitive format. His style is what you would call leisure riding. He goes out on his cycle to enjoy the experience of the ride and the surroundings with the purpose of trying to keep a respectful level of fitness combined with fun and a ‘bacon butty’.

The Longest ride to date that he has completed was Scotland to Wales. Which he completed with Paul, another founder of this site and ‘the font of all knowledge’ (well some useless stuff anyway!!)

It’s Chris’s intention to try and encourage people of all ages and abilities to get out there and enjoy cycling around the UK..

Mike Griffiths

Mike

Mike is Chris’ son. He’s the family geek and created the web site. If you find something not working properly, he’s the one to vent your anger at. You can learn more about mike over on his blog.

Andy Griffiths

Andy

Andy is Chris’ eldest son. Andy often makes the long trip down the coast for a family bike ride at the east side of North Wales, where the rest of the Griffiths’ live. Andy is also a bit of an XBox 360 lover.

Paul Foley

Paul

Uncle to the two racing snakes and brother-in-law to the other fat bloke in the team, Foley is blind as a bat and has the natural balance of a mountain giraffe, the cause of many a spill on his mountain bike – and that’s just getting it out of the shed. Despite his (ir)regular 19 mile commute, he still manages to look like he irons his t-shirts on a wok. A mine of useless information, has been known to clear a room by starting his sentence with “During the war…..”.
