Linlithgow to Falkirk.

Starting from the Linlithgow Canal Centre, Rockville Grove, Linlthgow, EH49 6BZ. Simply head west along The Union Canal on its northern bank heading towards Falkirk.

You will soon be cycling out in the countryside along the tow path and after cycling for about two and a half miles you reach The Avon Aqueduct, It is 810 feet long and 86 feet high; it is the longest and tallest aqueduct in Scotland.

Continue cycling along the canal tow path and you will pass under several bridges along the canal. After a few more miles you will pass the town of Polmont. Two mile past Polmont you reach Glen Village which is on the outskirts of Falkirk and it is here that the canal enters Scotland’s longest waterway tunnel. Enjoy…

Just under 2 miles after the end of the tunnel you reach The Falkirk Wheel the end of your ride.

The Falkirk Wheel is a rotating boat lift connecting the Forth and Clyde Canal with the Union Canal. And is 79ft high.

It is possible to return to Linlithgow on the train from the nearby stations of Camelon and Falkirk, both very close to The Falkirk Wheel.
