With the route being along the seafront and passing busy places like Bournemouth there are plenty of establishments an route for refreshments.

Approx 23 miles including return journey. Trains available if you wish to travel one way only. Check times before your ride.

I found a good starting point for this ride is the boating lake in Poole Park.

From the north side of the lake by the tennis courts cycle right along roadway and when you reach the small roundabout go straight across and continue until you come to the junction with Sandbanks Road, about 500 yards where you should turn right along Sandbanks Road. For the first hundred yards this road is a busy road but after just approx 100 yards it changes into a quieter ‘B’ road.
Cycle all the way along Sandbanks Road, about one and a half miles where in runs into Shore Road.

Along the way you will cycle through some suburbs of Poole and near the end of the road pass some marinas on the sea front.

Continue along Shore Road which will take you along the sea front and as you round the right hand bend towards Banks Road you will see a turning on your left which is the continuation of Shore Road. Keep to Shore Road on your left. After just a short way ( 200 yards ) you will come to the sea front adjacent to the promenade. Note: you can if you wish follow Banks Road which will take you on a loop of about two miles total around the houses of the rich and famous on ‘The Sandbanks’

Anyway back to the route. When you reach the sea front at the end of Shore Road you will see The Promenade running along the sea front. The rest of the route is basically following the promenade for as long as you like. We cycled through to the end of The Promenade at
Southbourne, approx 9.5 miles from the start of the ride.
At the end of The Promenade go along Southbourne Coast Road (in the same direction as you have been cycling along the sea front), after approx 400 yards you come to a ‘T’ junction with Broadway. Turn right along Broadway.

After a few hundred yards you will come to a fork in the road bear right and follow the road all the way, this will take you to the end of the headland which forms the entrance to Christchurch Harbour where you can enjoy the fantastic sea views out to sea or look back into Christchurch Harbour.
This is the end of our route.
