Llys y Fran Country Park to Circular visitors centre

Llys-y-Fran Country Park – Near Fishguard – Pembrokeshire.  7 miles

Llys-Y-Fran is a large country park in Pembrokeshire and the ride is based around the reservoir and its dam in the park.

The complete ride is aimed at off road cyclists with a reasonable degree of ability and experience. However the first part of the ride approx 1.5 miles is fairly straight forward and would give beginners and families the opportunity to enjoy some leisure cycling.
Start at the visitors centre. Note bike hire is available from the visitors centre and there is a small charge (£1) for a cycle permit.
Start at the visitors centre and whilst looking out at the lake cycle towards your right along the eastern edge of the lake. This first section will give you opportunity to check out a bit off simple off road tracks with plenty of places to stop and enjoy the views. This first part of the route is known locally as the family route.
To continue the complete route, carry on cycling along the track on the lakeside and when you reach the first stream crossing follow the track south which will take you through some wooded slopes some of which are steep and also zig zag along the edge of the lake.
Along the route you will also encounter sections of loose shale and various climbs and descents.

Follow the trail until you come back to the visitors centre. (the end of the oute). This route can at times be quite muddy, if so you can wash your bike down at the rear of the visitors centre and enjoy a nice cup of tea.
