This route starts at the market town of Cleobury Mortimer, which lies approximately midway between Kidderminster and Ludlow on the A4117, with it’s church of St Mary’s with it’s twisted spire, numerous inns, pubs and shops. The route takes you in a south westerly direction to take in the small hamlets and villages of Bayton, Mamble and Milson. All of these villages have buildings of particular interest, including churches, black and white cottages and of course, the odd pub. Mostly on quiet roads and lanes with some gradients – so decent gearing (and brakes) required!

Start off in Cleobury Mortimer at the Sports Centre located at Lacon Childe School. The Sports Centre can be found off the High Street. If approaching by car from Ludlow direction on the A4117, as you enter the High Street turn left into Childe Road , then left at the roundabout into Love Lane – the Sports Centre is on the left.

Leave the Sports Centre and follow road back to High Street. Turn Left (east) towards
town centre and at cross roads (Church on corner on right), turn Right onto Barkers Lane. At T junction turn Right, then almost immediately, turn Left into Bayton Road. Follow this road (some downhill stretches), crossing the River Rea, all the way to the village of Bayton (with it’s 12th Century church),. At the centre of Bayton turn Right at the T junction (signposted Mamble). Follow this for just under 2 miles until you reach the hamlet of Mamble (13th Century church and the 16th Century Sun & Slipper pub).
At this point you come to the T junction which meets the A456. Turn Right (signposted Tetbury) – Caution required.
After only 500 yards or so, take the road on the Right (signposted Neen Sollars). Follow this downhill, passing the Live & Let Live pub on the right and crossing the River Rea just before entering the village of Neen Sollars. This village houses many black & white cottages and the 14th Century All Saints church.
Follow road out of village to Milson (another old 12th century church with a pyramid roofed tower). In Milson, by the telephone box, turn Right at the T junction signposted Cleobury Mortimer. Follow road downhill over Millbrook bridge and then turn immediately Left (signposted Hollywaste).

Climb this hill for about 2 miles, passing through Dudnill until you reach cross roads with
A4117. Go Straight across A4117 (Caution!) and after approximately 1 mile turn Right at cross roads signposted Cleobury Mortimer. Follow road – but keep to Right at obvious Y junction and follow until you reach the busy A4117. Turn Left onto the A4117 towards Cleobury Mortimer, then after a few hundred yards, turn Left into Childe Road, then Left at Roundabout to get back to Sports centre.
