Ludlow to Ludlow

Ludlow – South – 19 miles
The route starts at historic Ludlow, and makes its way south through Little Hereford, into
the spa town of Tenbury Wells, then back via Burford. Whilst this is an anti-clockwise circular route, the last 2.5 miles you rejoin your outward route back into Ludlow. Mostly lanes and quiet roads, although some busy sections leaving Ludlow and Little Hereford. Some gradients – but nothing too severe. Plenty of places to eat and drink on the journey as you pass through the villages and towns.

Ludlow itself is steeped in history, with the town grouped around the main market square dominated at the top of the hill by the entrance to Ludlow Castle. The town swoops down to the river Teme, with many old buildings lining the streets, including the arch which leads through the remaining medieval gatehouse into the lower town and onto the river. Plenty of cafes, restauarants and pubs around the square and the adjoining streets.
